

A brief biography of Porfirio Rubirosa
Born in 1909 in San Francisco de Macoris, small town in the Dominican
Republic. Died in 1963, in Paris, France.
His father is a diplomat sent to France by dictator Rafael Trujillo.
Young Porfirio, aka “Rubi”, grows up and is educated in Paris.
Upon returning to the Dominican Republic, he catches the eye of Trujillo,
who quickly marries him to his daughter, Flor de Oro.
On diplomatic assignment in Europe, Rubi meets Danielle Darrieux, the
darling of the French cinema. He divorces Flor de Oro and marries
Danielle.
Survives WWII and the German occupation of Paris.
After the war he meets Doris Duke, the second richest American heiress.
Divorces Danielle and marries Doris.
Begins his bi-continental jet-setter lifestyle. Is close friend with other
international playboys like Gunter Sach, king Farouk of Egypt, Villalonga,
Barclay, etc. Becomes an international celebrity as the Romeo of the
Caribbean, the highest handicapped Polo player in North America, the
Best Dressed Man per the American Tailors Guild, a multiple winner of
Panamerican races at the wheel of a Ferrari, but principally after the media
highlights and celebrates his multifarious affairs with the most glamorous
women of the time, from Marylin Monroe to Ava Gardner to Evita Peron.
Meets Barbara Hutton, the first richest American Heiress. Divorces Doris
and marries Barbara. The marriage will last less than three months.
Meets Odile Rodin, a nineteen year old unknown French thespian. Moves
to a suburb of Paris.
After celebrating his Polo team’s victory, he drives his white Ferrari
Pegaso into a tree in the Bois de Boulogne (Paris), killing himself at age
54.
His funeral is attended by the Tout Paris, by members of the Kennedy
Family, several Kings and Princesses.
