DONALD ARRINGTON is the composer and
musician behind RUBIROSA!
Don has been a mainstay of downtown
theater since the early seventies as a
composer/playwright.
He has been represented by Allegros, On the
Block, If this Ain't It, Without Apparent Motive,
Kareer Suicide, Reety in Hell, I love my Voice
(the first one-woman neurotic opera), Down
Under Darling, at La Mama, The Theater for
the New City, Riverside Church and Wings
theater, among others.
PETER JOHNSON is our lyricist.
Since he can remember he has been
involved in one or another aspect of musical
theater and/or cabaret performance, from
representative roles in works such as A
Taste of Honey, Tea and Sympathy, Dr.
Faustus, to roles in msucials such as
George M!, The All Tap Review, Mame,
Panache and Dames at Sea.
In songwriting he has had the honor of
working with Mark Elliot. After discovering
Raphael Pallais' screenplay on the life of
Rubirosa, Peter put together the RUBIROSA!
creative team. This collaboration affords
Peter his first chance as a lyricist on
Broadway for a full-scale, musical theater
production.
RAPHAEL PALLAIS is the book writer.
Sometimes described as "a knock-about
writer", Pallais writes poetry, essays and
novels. Rubirosa represents his first foray
into musical theater. He is the proud
originator of the project, but stops short of
saying "Rubirosa, c'est moi!". What he really
wants, of course, is to emulate Rubi's motto:
I'm too busy to work!
